How do I add team members and set their live chat permissions?
Updated October 13, 2026
Live chat is your team's shared WhatsApp inbox. It needs the Live Chat add-on in your subscription.
Open live chat
From the menu: Conversations → Live chat → Open Live Chat, or go straight to /livechat on your workspace address. There are mobile apps too: iPhone and Android.
1. Create a role with the right permissions
- Open Administration → Team → Roles & permissions (
/panel/v2/roles). Only the account owner sees this page. - Create a role (for example: Customer service) and tick its permissions, such as viewing live chat, viewing all chats or only my chats, sending messages and viewing contacts.
Tip: give an agent "my chats" only if they should see just the conversations assigned to them.
2. Add the team member
- Open Administration → Team → Team members (
/panel/v2/users) and click Add team member. - Fill in full name, email, mobile number with country code and password, choose the Roles, and save.
- Send them the email and password so they can sign in on your workspace address or in the app.
The number of seats depends on your plan (for example 5 users on Starter and 10 on Basic). At the limit the add button is disabled with a message explaining why.
What happens next?
The member sees conversations according to their role. To share chats across the team, see Assign conversations manually or automatically.
